Griffon
Well, you have to break it down by part. It's nice to say you want it to be like a griffon, but what exactly does that mean? Look at the conformation descriptions and come up with your own based on that. For example.
Head: The head should be round with a dinner plate like shape and a nose that tapers sharply with an extreme down curve.
As for how to actually make that happen, the best idea I have right now is to to start with a Starstrike or Lava Herding Dragon for the wings. I have a feeling that the only way you'll be able to get the right combination of traits is going to be through breeding what would be considered serious faults in other breeds. Also, it's going to take a LONG time.-hydroc777 10-30-12
Sounds like a nifty project! I'd go for the lava-herders myself as the fire dragons will give you both the beak and the wings that you need. Maybe you can breed in a clay-nesting without the crest/fan thing to get more of a round head.-Stormlegacy 10-31-12
